We never saw the need because we rarely handle people’s money. We’re just fine with that! We’re probably the only organization you might know of that doesn’t ask for money!
We’re just as happy to receive Grandma’s stash of yarn, fabric, afghans, and knitting needles so that we can turn those raw goods into warm, useful, joyful items for those in need!
We now have sewers and quilters among us, so we can always use fleece and flannel for blankets, cotton or textured fabric and stuffing appropriate for toys, and any notions or craft materials you'd like to donate! If we can't use what you've given us, we will share your gifts with other groups that do similar work, or we'll donate them to Savers so that they will ultimately be used for helping others.
We’re happy to have you contribute however seems right to you. Johanna and perhaps some of the other members will meet with you, show you her and Bill’s garage where our work gets organized and allocated, and help you find your place to contribute! We operate on the principal that if you're happy making whatever you make, the joy will transfer to the recipient of your gift. We're all about everyone being uplifted!
To be sure, most communities have similar organizations, sometimes sponsored by some religious or secular service organizations. There’s no competition here. If you’d like to start your version of Crafting for a Cause, go for it!! Johanna is happy to help you put together your group and give you ideas on how you can make your group work for you in your area or situation. She would love to hear more, so send her an email!
